KUCHING: The police revealed that two men were arrested during a roadblock at Jalan Haji Taha last Thursday night.

Central Police Station chief ASP Ahmad Abang said the first case was that of a 25-year-old man who had a transparent plastic packet containing dried compressed leaves suspected to be marijuana.

He explained that around 11.15pm on Jan 17, he and 18 constables blocked Jalan Haji Taha.

“During a vehicle inspection, two men on a motorcycle tried to avoid the roadblock, but we managed to arrest one of them, the rider.

“In his black backpack, we found a transparent plastic packet containing dried leaves which we suspected was cannabis weighing 10.35 grammes,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The suspect was arrested and the cannabis was seized for further action.

In the second case, a 31-year-old man driving a stolen car was arrested. The car was reported missing in Sibu.

He said the suspect was detained around 11.30pm during a roadblock at the same location.
