SIBU: Police here arrested a 26-year-old local man and seized from him drugs estimated to be worth more than RM6,700 on Wednesday (Jan 4).

Sibu district police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the suspect was arrested at a house in Lorong Permai Jaya 1B1 here by police personnel from the Sibu district Narcotics Crime Investigation Division at around 11.30 am.

“Inspection found two gold-coloured tin foil wrappers containing compressed pieces of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana and 11 transparent plastic packets of various sizes also containing dried leaves suspected to be marijuana.

“Also seized were nine small bottles containing 10 ml of vape liquid suspected of being marijuana,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Zulkipli noted that the estimated gross weight of the drug seized was 2517.31 grams and the total value of the drug seizure amounting to RM6759.

“The suspect was tested negative for drug, while a background check conducted found that he has a past criminal record related to drugs,” he added.

The suspect was remanded five days for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act (ADB)1952.
