PADAWAN: Police have arrested two men for allegedly causing a commotion at the Mooncake Festival site at Pasar Lama Batu Kawah last Sunday.

Padawan police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the suspects’ arrest was made following a police report from the victim, a 16-year-old student.

The incident happened at around 8.15 pm when the boy was selling beverages at a stall and one of the suspects suddenly hurled a can of beer at the young vendor, inflicting pain upon him.

Following that, the boy, who experienced pain and bruises on his chest, informed his mother and uncle about the matter.

“The concerned uncle attempted to engage in a conversation with the suspect in an effort to defuse the situation.

“However, the individual not only declined to cooperate but also raised his voice in defiance

“The suspect, presumably under the influence of alcohol, adamantly refused to issue an apology for the disturbance he caused at the festival when several other vendors expressed their dissatisfaction with the suspect’s actions,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by means of any instrument.
