SIBU: An E-waste (electrical and electronic waste) Recycle Campaign will be held in conjunction with the Love Earth Day programme 2023 at the shaded car parks in front of Wisma Sanyan on July 1.

Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) in a statement yesterday (June 16) said the campaign would take place from 9 am to 4 pm.

The organising chairman Councillor Toh Yong Kiang appealed for the support and cooperation from all sectors.

“All government agencies, corporate bodies or companies, NGOs and individuals can send their mal-function or defective electrical and electronic goods from their workplaces or their homes to the  venue for recycling and sale to a registered recycling company,” he said.

Toh said that in line with the theme of World Earth Day 2023 ‘Invest in Our Planet’, the meaningful campaign would help to protect the environment and ensure we could all work with nature to enjoy a sustainable future for our younger generations.

“The Sibu Red Crescent Society and Tzu Chi Foundation, Sibu Branch are also coming together for the sale of second hand clothing and toys for charity  at the same venue.

“Let’s join hand in hand towards a green, cleaner and better Sibu,” he said.
