Enthusiastic participants wait eagerly for the kick-off of the event

KUCHING: The Green Day Eco Run 2023 serves as a crucial platform to instil a sense of environmental sustainability among the community.

Deputy Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi highlighted that the event held at Trombol Beach has successfully engaged the youth, instilling a culture of cleanliness for future generations.

“I express sincere gratitude to everyone for their pure efforts in enhancing cleanliness at Trombol Beach. Congratulations to all participants!

“This teaches us to prioritise cleanliness in our lives at all times,” he said during the opening ceremony in Kampung Trombol on Saturday.

The Pantai Damai assemblyman emphasised that the initiative, organised by the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), aligns with the ongoing efforts of the Sarawak government and the state’s long-term conservation measures.

“The conservation of natural resources is a priority for our community. This means we should encourage any efforts to beautify and preserve the surrounding environment,” he added.

As such, he pledged ongoing support for community programmes in the Trombol area.

He commended the continuous efforts by MPP, fostering a strong camaraderie between his office and the council.

Earlier, it was estimated that more than 200 participants were present to show their support for the three-kilometre run programme.

Among the attendees were representatives from the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Kuching Polytechnic, the Department of Environment, and others.

Also present at the event was MPP chairman Tan Kai.
