KUCHING: Machinery strength contributed greatly to the success of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in securing victory with a large majority in the Pantai Damai constituency.

Pantai Damai assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the machinery at various levels had worked hard regardless of time and thus resulted in a substantial majority of 8,381 votes in the seat.

“This excellent success is the contribution of machinery that works hard and is willing to sacrifice time and energy in order to ensure GPS’ victory.

“The majority that we have obtained is still at a level of being proud of in Sarawak,” he said when delivering his speech at the GPS-Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Pantai Damai thanksgiving ceremony here on Wednesday night (Dec 22).

The PBB vice-president said the machinery had also been working for a long time and did not just make preparations at the last minute. He said the Covid-19 pandemic had not stopped the machinery from carrying out efforts to promote GPS.“

These constraints were not obstacles; programmes in the form of welfare and directly helping the community continued to be carried out.”He also expressed his gratitude as the election machinery was able to comply with the standard operating procedure (SOP) set by the Election Commission (EC).

“Even though the method of campaigning is different compared to before, we still adhere to the SOPs set.”In the recently concluded 12th Sarawak  Election, Dr Abdul Rahman garnered 10,699 votes and successfully defended his seat against his opponent Mahmud Sabli of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB).
