MIRI: A 39 year-old man’s DIY (do-it-yourself) attempt to fix a television antenna at his home cost him his life when he was electrocuted after touching a live cable outside his house in Kampung Keluru Jaya, Bekenu on Sunday (June 19).

Bomba Miri acting chief Supt Ahmad Nizam Sapaiee said a team of firemen from Batu Niah was despatched to the scene following a distress call at 3.59pm.

“The man who worked as a lorry driver is believed to have been electrocuted while trying to place a  television antenna from his house using an aluminium rod,” he said.

Firemen who arrived at the scene at 4.46pm were told by the victim’s family members that he fell unconscious in front of the house gate. The victim was brought to the Bekenu health clinic where he was pronounced dead.
