KOTA SAMARAHAN: A man was crushed to death by an elevator at a shopping mall apartment here while carrying out maintenance work.
The victim, 39, was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene.
Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said a distress call regarding the incident was received at 9.56am on Wednesday (Jan 27).
Nine firefighters were deployed to the scene soon after.
“The operations commander reported that a man was pinned while doing elevator maintenance work.
“The firefighters were assisted by the building management in removing the victim,” the spokesman said in a statement.
The body was then handed over to the police for further action.
