KUCHING: Elizabeth Loh is the first Chinese woman to hold a position as the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government (MPHLG).

In congratulating her appointment, Deputy Premier and Minister of MPHLG Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said this is a reflection of Sarawak’s inclusivity.

“Elizabeth, is the first Chinese lady permanent secretary in Sarawak and she is the third permanent secretary since I was appointed as Minister in 2016 (after) Datuk Bakri Zaini (2016 to 2020) and Datuk Antonio Kahti Galis (2020 to 2023).

“Therefore, I am looking forward to more Sarawakian ladies breaking the glass ceiling,” he said in a Facebook post.

Loh was previously the deputy permanent secretary of MPHLG and Padawan Municipal Council (PMC). She takes over the present role from Antonio.

Dr Sim also took the opportunity to congratulate the new permanent secretary of the Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity And Regional Development Sarawak (M-FICORD) Sirai Daha.
