KUCHING: In response to recent death threats against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Sarawak police are set to bolster security measures around him during the upcoming Global Muslim Business Forum (GMBF).

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata, in a press conference, assured the public that the police are prepared to heighten security measures for Anwar’s presence here.

“We are ready to enhance security measures when he is here in Kuching. We have also organised strategic operations, strict security controls and conducted intelligence,” he informed the media at the Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) today (Nov 27).

Comm Mancha was responding to enquiries about security preparations for Anwar following a death threat made by a TikToker yesterday (Nov 26).

A screenshot of a TikTok video offering RM5mil to anyone who shot Anwar, ministers, or political party members went viral on social media. The video has since been removed.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain stated that they have received one police report on the matter, and the case is being investigated under Section 507 and 233 of the Penal Code.
