LUNDU: Members of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Tanjong Datu branch took part in a ‘Tautan Kasih’ programme at Kampung Sg Belian here over the weekend.

The programme was inspired by Tanjong Datu assemblywoman Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu to enhance ties among members and their families.

“The programme is a continuation of the Jerayawara Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Tanjong Datu branch which has been renamed in line with current politics that need better ties among party members especially ahead of the state election which is just around the corner,” said Tanjong Datu PBB Youth chief Azizul Annuar Adenan Satem at the event.

He also explained that the changes in the latest political situation and the new norms that would be faced if election was held during the movement control order (MCO).

“What’s important is that we should not rely on any other party other than GPS to manage our state,” he said.

Azizul assured that GPS would focus on the affairs of the state unlike other parties which were fighting over who should be the prime minister.

He also called on all branches to unite and work together and not allow outside elements to divide the unity in the state.

The ‘Tautan Kasih’ programme, which began on Saturday was attended by members of three sub-branches of PBB Tanjong Datu, namely Sg Belian, Rayu Melayu and Rayu Iban.

After that, the programme continued to Kampung Rambungan which also combined three sub-branches, namely Rambungan, Sg Cina and Stoh.

Also present was special tasks officer to the chief minister, Helmi Hazemi who represented Jamilah at the event.
