MIRI: The public here have been assured that there are sufficient stocks of essential items during the two weeks of full lockdown.

The assurance was given by Miri branch chief of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) Joe Azmi Jamil yesterday.

He said   despite the announcement on the full lockdown recently following a surge in Covid-19 positive cases, there was no panic buying in the district and the situation was still under control.

He appealed to the public to always adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the government and rules at the shopping malls and hypermarkets.

“We have also instructed all malls and hypermarkets here to put up notices at their entrances limiting the time spent by each customer to a maximum of two hours,” he said.

He added the malls and hypermarkets should also limit number of customers at their premises.

Earlier today, Miri KPDNHEP enforcement team conducted spot checks on eight supermarkets here.
