THE Simunjan District Council has secured sufficient funding from the Sarawak government to upgrade and enhance its facilities and related structures under 12th Malaysian Plan.

Awla Idris, Simunjan assemblyman, said, “In the long term, and based on the Integrated Solid Waste Management study which was carried out in 2019, Simunjan District Council has been included under the Kuching Regional waste collection network, whereby all the domestic wastes will be collected and sent to the Kuching Integrated Waste Management Park (KIWMP) at Mambong.”

In the meantime, he said that small scale mobile incinerators had been proposed to process the wastes from the smaller villages and longhouses.
