SIBU: Three workers were injured following a minor explosion and fire at a factory at Jalan Then Kung Suk here today (Dec 19).
Colleagues rushed them to the nearest health clinic for treatment.
A spokesperson for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firefighters from the Sibu Central station responded to the scene after receiving a distress call at 11.29 am.
Upon arrival, they discovered that the factory owners and workers had already extinguished the fire using seven fire extinguishers.
The fire, reportedly caused by electrical work, led to sparks and a minor explosion.
A portion of the factory, along with a forklift and a welding set, was damaged in the fire.
The team monitored the scene to ensure no risk of reignition before concluding the operation at 12.23 pm.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the losses incurred are still under investigation.
