KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has denied a draft agreement on the allocation demands of opposition lawmakers was presented to the Madani government, as claimed by leaders of the Perikatan Nasional (PN).

He said no draft document was received during his meeting with parliamentary opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin in Parliament on Mar 19.

“I emphasise once again that during my meeting with opposition representatives last week, no documents were provided by the Madani government or the Opposition.

“It was merely a session to hear their requests and offers, and there was no discussion on any agreement,” he said in a statement yesterday (Mar 24).

Fadillah, who is also unity government chief whip, urged Hulu Terengganu MP Datuk Rosol Wahid who mentioned that the draft agreement included matters related to allocations to request the draft from the opposition leader.

“Has he (Rosol) already seen the draft. If not, ask for the draft from the leader of the opposition. Try to see if the draft exists or not,” said Fadillah.

On March 22, Hamzah, who is also Larut MP, was reported to have said that the Opposition had received a draft document detailing matters related to negotiations on allocations for Opposition MPs.

Rosol told Sinar Harian the terms of the draft agreement on the matter also included an allocation of RM300,000 to manage the MP’s service centres and said that the MPs will spend the annual RM3.5 million allocation on the welfare, infrastructure and educational needs of their constituents.
