KUCHING: An old vacant factory at Mile 4, Jalan Penrissen here was destroyed by fire this afternoon.
The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said the blaze also destroyed a large part of an empty office building located next to the factory.
It said firefighters from the Batu Lintang Fire Station rushed to the scene after receiving a report on the incident around 12.30 pm.
“The factory was 90 percent burnt while the two-storey office building was 60 percent burnt.
“The factory area is approximately 70 by 40 sq feet while the office building is 36 by 40 sq feet. Both premises are vacant and are no longer operating,” it said in a statement today.
Bomba said the fire was extinguished at 3,40 pm and that no casualties or injuries were reported.
