BINTULU: A workers’ quarters of a wood factory in Kuala Segan here was razed by fire yesterday morning (Mar 5) , leaving 10 laborers homeless.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported.

According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department operation centre, a total of eight rooms were destroyed in the incident, whereby two of the rooms were occupied at that time, while the remaining six were unoccupied.

The workers’ quarters razed to the ground by the fire.

The Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call about the incident at 11.36am.

A team of firefighters from Bintulu Fire station were dispatched to the scene immediately upon receiving the report.

They managed to subdue the raging fire at 12.45pm.

The cause of the fire and loss to property are yet to be ascertained.
