SERIAN: An afternoon inferno engulfed a double-storey house in Kampung Sungai Engkabang B, Jalan Serian-Sri Aman here yesterday (Apr 17).
According to a spokesman from the Sarawak Fire Department operations centre, firemen from Serian station were deployed to the scene after receiving an emergency call around 1.38pm.
Upon arriving, the team confirmed the fiery incident and proceeded to carry out the extinguishing works.
The house, which had only one occupant, was completely destroyed.
The owner, on the other hand, was not there at the time of the occurrence.
After ensuring that the situation is safe, the extinguishing operation ended at 3.30pm.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still being investigated.
