KUCHING: A double-storey house was engulfed in flames, sustaining 70 percent damage, near Desa Moyan here, today.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received a distress call around 12.48pm, where the operations centre was informed that a house at Lorong Moyan 1C was on fire.
Firemen from Petra Jaya and Batu Lintang Bomba stations were dispatched to the scene.
“The fire burnt down the living room and kitchen located at the ground floor and the flames spread to the second floor of the house, burning down the entire staircase,” said a Bomba spokesman.
The fire was brought under control by 1.16pm and firemen managed to put out the fire by 2.30pm.
The cause of fire and the total loss of properties are still being ascertained.
