Kota Samarahan firefighters extinguish the forest fire in Kampung Lubuk Bunting

KUCHING: The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) has successfully extinguished three fires involving forest and bushes in three different areas today.

The first incident involving a forest fire, happened in Kampung Lubuk Bunting, Kota Samarahan. It was initially reported at around 3.10 pm last Tuesday.

Firemen from Kota Samarahan station were despatched to the scene to extinguish and control the fire from spreading to nearby villages.

It took them two days to battle the wildfire. The flames were brought under control at around 9.40 am and it was completely extinguished at 4.10 pm.

Meanwhile, the second incident involving a bush fire, happened along Jalan Gedong Simunjan and it was initially reported on Saturday.

After five days of hard work to put out the blaze, firemen from Simunjan station managed to conclude the extinguishing operation at 10.50 am.

The third incident involving another bush fire, happened at Jalan Kampung Sangki, Sebuyau and the fire was reported on Sunday.

Firemen from Simunjan station were lucky yesterday as heavy downpour managed to assist them in extinguishing the bush fire, which was burning for four days.

The extinguishing operation involved a total of 20 firefighters from Kota Samarahan and Simunjan stations and their extinguishing equipment.
