Firemen treat local community to ‘bubur lambuk’

SARIKEI: The Sarikei Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) distributed over 200 free packs of ‘bubur lambuk’ (savoury porridge) to the public during its Ramadan Semarak programme yesterday evening.

Head of Sarikei Fire and Rescue Department Mahmudin Narudin, several officers and members were present to distribute the porridge to the public.

The programme, held near the Ramadan bazaar site, took place at 3.30pm and attracted many visitors.

Mahmudin said the distribution of ‘bubur lambuk’ was aimed at strengthening relationships between Bomba members and the local community.

According to him, 37 Bomba personnel began cooking the porridge at 8 am.

“The cooking and packing of porridge were held at Sarikei Fire Station.

“We are satisfied with the response and the community’s strong support,” he told reporters.

“We look forward to making this programme an annual event to foster friendships,” he added.
