Flood victims in Kuching rose to 248

KUCHING: The number of flood victims at temporary relief centres (PPS) in the district has increased to 248 victims involving 63 families this morning (Mar 19), compared to 160 victims yesterday.
 
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in their 11am update, said the number of flood evacuees remained the same at two PPS.
 
According to the statement, the Dewan R-Piang PPS in Kampung Sinar Budi Baru is the relief centre housing the most victims, with 148 people from 31 families, while the Dewan Masyarakat Stapok PPS is providing shelter to 100 victims from 32 families.
 
Yesterday, both relief centres were declared open at 3pm simultaneously to house about 160 victims from Kampung Sinar Budi Baru and Desa Wira Lorong 5I.
 
Flash floods had struck numerous areas in Kuching due to non-stop heavy downpours early yesterday morning.
