Food aid for nine longhouses

KAPIT: Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat distributed food aid to nine longhouses in the Sungai Amang, Sungai Sesibau and Sungai Kapit areas on Tuesday.

One hundred and eighty two households/families received the aid in the form of rice, sugar, flour, cooking oil, biscuits, tea and coffee.

The nine longhouses were Rh Steward Saba, Rh John Ramba, Rh John Tadong, Rh Unjah, Rh Kiong, Rh Nuang, Rh Agan, Rh Midin and Rh Osman Minggan.

In Bukit Goram constituency, there are almost 4,000 households and Jamit reminded them to be patient as the number was big and that the distribution was done in phases. He assured that no one would be left out.

On Monday, Phase One began with Kampung Baru, Kapit Muhibbah Bletih, Kampung Basteri Bletih, Kampung Cina Bukit Goram and Kampung Cina Bletih.

The food aid is channelled through the Kapit Division Disaster Management Committee and Bukit Goram PBB Service Centre.

Each state assemblyman received RM150,000 to RM200,000  from the state government for the purpose of ordering essential food items for the distribution to the people.

Assistance also came from the federal government through the MP and Nadma (Federal Welfare Organisation).
