KOTA SAMARAHAN: More units of the Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (SABERKAS) need to be set up at the village level to encourage youth involvement as a whole.

Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang, who is also Kota Samarahan MP, said that youth involvement would help to give new ideas, particularly in terms of state development.

She said that youth involvement with SABERKAS has numerous benefits, particularly through the various programmes organised.

“Thus, I suggest that more SABERKAS units be created at the village level so that we can see comprehensive involvement among the youth.

“It is important because SABERKAS has its own focus and direction, not only in terms of social and leisure programmes but also economic and political development,” she said.

She said this when speaking at the distribution of Bubur Lambuk SABERKAS Branch N16 Muara Tuang at Masjid Darul Salam Kampung Tanjung Bundong, here, yesterday.

She added that the involvement of the youth in SABERKAS would also enable them to give insightful input and ideas to the Sarawak government in particular and the leaders so that the area is governed well and in accordance with the interests of the community.

“So I would like to call on the youth to continue to get involved in SABERKAS activities, if there is not yet a unit in the village, they can contact the district level directly.

“The SABERKAS concept is open and anyone can get involved, we also want all members to play an important role in developing the Muara Tuang area in the best possible way,” she said.

She hopes that the youth group can also work together with other veteran members to further empower development in this area.

“I and Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang will also always cooperate with SABERKAS, especially in organising constructive programmes,” she explained.
