KUCHING: The district police here have arrested four individuals for theft and burglary in Kampung Bako recently.

Kuching Police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said that the arrests were made on Friday by a team led by Inspector Roshandi Sahari from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The suspects, three men and one woman aged between 22 and 37, were arrested at four different locations in the Bako area.

Ahsmon said that the total estimated losses from these incidents amount to approximately RM1,000. Further investigations revealed that three men suspects have a history of criminal and drug-related offenses, with a combined total of six prior records.

Additionally, tests indicated that the suspects tested positive for methamphetamine. He confirmed that all suspects have been remanded for four days.

The ongoing investigation falls under Section 457 of the Penal Code, which addresses burglary and theft. Conviction could result in a maximum penalty of 14 years imprisonment, in addition to fines or corporal punishment for repeat offenders.
