SERIAN: FT WARREZ emerged champions of the 2017 Gold Cup Bantang Youth Edition 1 in a dramatic fashion as they sealed a 4-1 shoot-out victory over KRM Junior in the final match, here, recently. 

DulHameed’s side held their nerve in the nerve-shredding penalty shoot-out that followed a tense 0-0 draw at Kampung Bantang football field inb Serian. 

“Congratulations to all players … there’s quite a bit of relief to get second title of the year. All the hard work have paid off,” commented FT Warrez’s team manager, DulHameed.

With the victory, FT WARREZ took home a cash prize of RM2,000, a trophy and medals while KRM Junior received a cash prize of RM1,500, a trophy and medals.

Third place was won by M.B.A United who took home a cash prize of RM1,000, a trophy and medals after defeated BUNG ABUT FC.

FT WARREZ team captain, Mohammad Fazailah Sapari who scored a total of eight goals throughout the tournament won the Top Scorer Award as KRM Junior’s goalkeeper was named as the Best Goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, the final match of the Gold Cup Bantang Youth Edition 1 was fully sponsored by the Minister of Human Resource, Dato’ Sri Richard Riot Jaem.

The Serian Member of Parliament also officiated the closing ceremony and presented the prizes to all winners which were witnessed by some 200 football fans from around the Serian.

“I am honoured and excited about the presence of Dato’ Sri, as well as satisfied with the spectators’ attendance. Everything goes as planned,” said the tournament’s chairman, Karim Tunjang after the match.

“Congratulations too to all teams. We’re thrilled to be working and will definitely be encouraging more entries for the second edition of the championship next year,” he added.
