KUCHING: Democratic Action Party (DAP) veteran Lim Kit Siang has called for full support for Stampin incumbent Chong Chieng Jen in the 15th General Election (GE15).
“I appeal to (constituents in) Stampin to continue to support Chong. Chong at Stampin, it can be said that it is a ‘do or die’ election for him. It is a very challenging reality.
“But, the most important is not (about) Chong or DAP, but for the future direction of the country and Malaysia dream,” he said.
He was speaking to reporters before the walkabout and meeting the locals at Mile 3 Wet Market and the surrounding area here on Monday (Oct 24).
Chong was the Bandar Kuching MP from 2004 to 2018, and then served as the Stampin MP from 2018.
The Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak chief had also recently announced that he will be defending his seat in the upcoming general election.
At the same time, he also called Malaysians of all ages, especially the youth, to come forward to bring change to the world.
“Our work is not done, our work is a long-term struggle. We must continue to fight for justice, and equality for a better life for everybody.
“Therefore, I hope the young ones, particularly those aged 18 to 21 who are going to vote for the first time, use this opportunity to remake Malaysia,” said Lim.
