PETALING JAYA: Kelantan FC’s internal turmoil involving its South Korean coach Choi Moon-sik and the club’s management is expected to end when the matter, which can affect the country’s image, reaches the attention of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).

FAM president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin said he had asked the Malaysian Football League (MFL) to contact Kelantan FC to get an explanation on the matter.

“I do not want to interfere, but I have already informed MFL to get an explanation from Kelantan to see what it is really about. I do not want to look at the matter from the point of view of social media, for fear of misinterpreting the facts.

“So we will get a statement and follow up from there. If there is any offence, the MFL as the operator of the Malaysian League will take action first,” he told reporters at the FAM breaking of fast and Tarawih prayers at Wisma FAM last night.

Kelantan announced the decision to rest Moon-sik less than an hour before their Super League match against Terengganu at the Sultan Mizan Stadium on Tuesday and appointed assistant coach Rezal Zambery Yahya as interim coach. Kelantan lost 5-0.

The 52-year-old coach, who joined Kelantan in January last year, was the first coach to be rested this season.

Following Moon-sik’s fate, local media reported that the coach’s agent made several allegations against The Red Warrior (TRW)’s management on social media and is also prepared to bring the matter to the International Football Federation (FIFA).

Kelantan TRW owner Norizam Tukiman, in defending the club’s decision, said that the constant defeats, difficulties in communication between players and coaches, and lack of performance reports were the reasons for Moon-sik being rested.

Under Moon-sik, Kelantan recorded one win, one draw, and five losses to rank 13th in the 14-team standings currently. – BERNAMA
