Good ties between state and fed govt, CM assures

KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has assured that relationships between the state government of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and the federal Pakatan Harapan (PH) government are always good.

“We are having good relationships, especially in making decisions for the good of our country, and as we all know, the opposition always visits our state to discuss matters involving Sarawak,” he added.

The chief minister was met by reporters after visiting the Raya open house of Petra Jaya MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof at the CIDB Convention Centre in Samariang here yesterday.

Abang Johari added that the state government committee which included the opposition represented by state PKR chief, Baru Bian had assured him that the good relationships between the state and federal governments were always there.

“Even Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas plays his role in looking after federal government’s projects in the state and making sure they are progressing well. This reflects the good relationships we are having,” he stressed.

Abang Johari also pointed out that the recommendation made by Sarawak Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Chong Chieng Jen to celebrate Malaysia Day in the state had been discussed during Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) committee meeting last month.

“Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had suggested to hold the celebration in the state with Kuching as the venue. We have agreed to this and welcomed the celebration here,” he said.
