MARUDI: A total of 200 containers of savoury porridge were prepared during a gotong-royong programme at Surau Nur Ihsan, Kampung Pemindahan here, yesterday.
The programme, that began as early as 8 am, started with preparation and cooking activities, thanks to the cooperation of the Kampung Pemindahan Village Development and Safety Committee (JKKK), Kampung Pemindahan Neighbourhood Watch Area (KRT) and the Women’s Bureau of Kampung Pemindahan.
The savoury porridge distribution programme for the local residents was held immediately after the Friday prayers at the Surau Nur Ihsan open hall and the food given to members of the community passing through the main route of Jalan Muhibbah.
This annual programme held during the month of Ramadan can strengthen ties and enhance the spirit of volunteerism among the villagers.
During the programme, the Marudi District Information Department (JaPen) also implemented the Info On Wheels (IOW) programme focusing on anti-smoking programmes in conjunction with Ramadan and distribution of publication materials to the public.
