KAPIT: The Sarawak government is constantly monitoring increases in the price of goods to ensure the people can afford to buy goods.

Caretaker Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi attributed the increase to the global economy which in turn affects the price of goods in the country.

“However, the price of our goods is still much lower compared to the price of goods in other countries,” the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) quoted him as saying at the Consumerism and Rural Development Programme for the Song community recently.

Nanta, who is also Kapit incumbent MP called on the people to not be deceived by the incitement on social media which deliberately discredits the government.

“Outsiders still do not understand that Sarawak is still in the development phase and that the government is concerned about the people’s problem.”

He also emphasised that the Malaysian government provided subsidies to ensure the prices of goods will be affordable.
