KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is open to collaborate with any party in Malaysia except Pakatan Harapan (PH), asserted Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice president said that GPS is close to Barisan Nasional (BN), Perikatan Nasional (PN) and has even been together in the federal government before.

“So we will look at the matter after GE15 later, but the cooperation may not be established with PH,” he said.

He said this at a press conference after officiating at the 2022 Entrepreneur Pocket Talk Programme and the Youth Kitchen & Entrepreneur opening ceremony at Dataran Perayaan, Petra Jaya today.

Recalling the events that happened in GE-14, he informed that PH had won at that time and had considered GPS – who at that time represented Sarawak BN as the opposition.

“After that, Sarawak also decided to leave BN, because we knew that the party could not be accepted by the people at that time.

“GPS was considered as the opposition, we were messed about a lot such as projects being cancelled and so on. We still remember these things,” he stressed.

He said after GE-15, if there is an offer for GPS to join a coalition to form a government, he would leave it to Sarawak Premier and GPS chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to decide.

“We will hand over the matter to Abang Johari and the top leaders from the components of the GPS, namely PBB, Sarawak People’s Party (PRS), Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP),” he said.
