KUCHING: Aside from fighting for the state’s rights and interest, GPS would strive to develop Sarawak for the benefit of all races.
“We in GPS will develop Sarawak not just for the Malays, Dayaks or Chinese but every single community in Sarawak,” said Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.
SUPP is among the four state-based parties to form GPS. Three others are Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP). All four were former components of the previous federal coalition.
“The formation of GPS was a big commitment by all four parties to work together with full trust and confidence among each other to bring about progress, peace and political stability to the state and its people,” he added in his message in the souvenir programme book for the official launch of GPS.
The ceremony will take place at the state Indoor Stadium in Petra Jaya tomorrow night.
“We have a common mission, which is to protect the rights and welfare of the people of Sarawak.
“We as members of GPS promise to protect Sarawak’s rights in accordance with the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and Federal Constitution,” he added.
He noted that the official launching of GPS would be a historic occasion for Sarawak’s political history.
He expressed hope that people would give strong support to GPS for a better Sarawak.
