Guard of honour heralds new TYT appointment

KUCHING: A guard of honour was mounted in conjunction with the swearing in of Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar as Sarawak’s eighth Yang di-Pertua Negeri at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) complex grounds here, on Monday.

The parade mounted by the General Operations Force (PGA) 11th Battalion and inspected by Wan Junaidi was accompanied by the Royal Malaysian Police band.

The ceremony ended with a prayer recital and the singing of Negaraku and Ibu Pertiwiku.

Also present during the ceremony were Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg; Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian; DUN Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Asfia Awang Nassar; State Secretary Datuk Amar Abu Bakar Marzuki; state ministers and deputy ministers as well as other dignitaries.

Last Friday, Wan Junaidi received the appointment letter from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, at the Istana Negara and simultaneously also conferred the country’s highest award, the title of Seri Maharaja Mangku Negara (SSM) which carries the title of Tun.
