KUCHING: Agnes Padan now no longer holds the post as Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak Women chief.

This was confirmed by PKR Sarawak acting chairman Abang Zulkifli Abang Engkeh when contacted by New Sarawak Tribune on Sunday (Nov 7).

“She no longer holds the post as PKR Women chief effective Nov 5, but she is still a member of PKR,” he said.

He said that the party veteran Datuk Seri Hafsah Harun has been appointed as the acting PKR Sarawak Women chief.

“She (Hafsah) will hold the post until the party election next year,” he said.

When asked why there was a change of its party’s women chief, Abang Zulkifli remained tight-lipped on the matter.

Agnes was appointed as the PKR Sarawak Women chief in Aug last year.

Meanwhile, PKR Sarawak’s Women Wing in a statement posted on its Facebook page on Saturday congratulated Hafsah on her appointment as the acting PKR Sarawak Women chief which took effect on Nov 5.

“PKR Sarawak Women Wing will give full cooperation to its candidates that will be contesting under the PKR logo and ensure the readiness of the women machinery as well as the women candidates to give fierce competition in the upcoming state polls,” it said.
