LUNDU: The formalisation of businesses is one of the driving factors for Sarawak’s transition towards the digital business landscape, said Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

In light of this, the Deputy Premier who is also the Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment said his ministry had taken the initiative to organise the Jum REGISTA Bisnes programme to assist entrepreneurs.

He asserted that this programme was being conducted to help informal entrepreneurs, especially those in rural areas, transform their businesses into formal entities.

“The first step in this direction is to register their businesses so that they can explore their respective business prospects.

“By registering their businesses, entrepreneurs will also have the opportunity to receive assistance from the government and financial institutions,” he said.

Awang Tengah said this in a text read by his deputy minister Datuk Malcolm Mussen Lamoh during the launching ceremony of the Jum Regista Bisnes Programme at Lundu Community Hall today (May 25).

He assured that the Sarawak government was always committed to producing successful local entrepreneurs.

“If entrepreneurs remain committed to self-improvement and constantly strive to enhance their products or services, I believe they can penetrate the global market,” he added.

Awang Tengah also urged entrepreneurs to ensure that their businesses remain active and competitive.

Tanjung Datu assemblyman, Azizul Annuar Adenan   pointed out that the REGISTA programme provided useful input for entrepreneurs in managing their businesses.

“These entrepreneurs from the informal sector have the potential to progress if given the opportunity and a conducive environment.

“We see this programme as a good platform for entrepreneurs to learn more about the necessary aspects of managing a business,” he said.
