KUCHING: Ramadan bazaar vendors must uphold high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in their areas.

Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi said that vendors are required to properly discard or throw away their leftover food and trash in the designated areas provided by the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU).

He added that maintaining a clean environment not only promotes public health but also enhances the overall experience for patrons seeking delicious and safe culinary delights during the holy month.

“The vendors have also been instructed to undergo health checks to ensure their well-being,” he told reporters after visiting the Satok Ramadan Bazaar here today (March 12).

He added that health checks are mandatory for vendors, as part of DBKU’s preparations for the bazaar.

Meanwhile, DBKU Mayor Hilmy Othman, also stressed the importance of food safety and vendor compliance with health and cleanliness standards.

“Following last year’s challenges with standard operating procedures, we’ve ensured all vendors adhere to DBKU’s regulations before issuing permits for stall operations,” he said.

This year, DBKU has collaborated with CCK Fresh Mart, Lee Ming Press Sdn Bhd, and Media Venture Sdn. Bhd for the Ramadan Bazaar within the DBKU jurisdiction.

Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki was also present at the programme.
