High speed crash claims motorcyclist

The condition of the high-powered motorcycle ridden by the victim after it hit the back of the MPV along Mile 13, Jalan Kuching-Serian last Friday.

PADAWAN: A coffee shop operator was killed on the spot after his high-powered motorcycle collided into a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) along Mile 13, Jalan Kuching-Serian yesterday.

Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Bingkok John said the accident happened around 1.45pm when the victim was riding his motorcycle alone from Kuching to Serian.

Initial investigations found that the victim had rear-ended the MPV at high speed.

“As a result of which the motorcycle swerved and crashed by the roadside while the MPV driver stopped at the scene.

“The victim identified as Chai Shong Teck, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH),” he said, adding that the body was taken to the hospital for post-mortem.

The MPV driver aged 52, was not hurt in the accident.
