BAU: Visitors were truly thrilled to finally get to see the Bung Bratak Day made its comeback after a hiatus of three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For the record, Bung Bratak Day is a celebration of the resettlement of the Bidayuh community many years ago.

During the festival, several programmes were held including the Bidayuh music performances, dances alongside the traditional arts and crafts as well as sales of local food and drinks.

The New Sarawak Tribune spoke with several of the tourists converging for the festival to find out their views and whether or not it should be held on a bigger scale in the future.

I have been to Bung Bratak Day festival for five times already and I am so happy to see people from outside of Sarawak come by and witness the beauty of the Bidayuh community, and I hope the festival will continue every year and organise on an even bigger scale.

This is my first time attending the festival, even though I have been to this place over five times for hiking. I think this event is a good thing because we can introduce the Bidayuh culture and community to the outsiders. And personally this festival should be held every year and better than ever.

I am from Australia, and I have been living in Kuching for almost 10 months. This is the first time I am attending the festival with my wife and I can say, it is a very beautiful festival. And we heard about this festival from a website specifically for the people living in Sarawak. I get to see other culture here that I would not get in Australia, so I am thankful for that.
