KUCHING: Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan on Wednesday handed over 19 sets of food items to a team of Hospital Sentosa social workers led by Noor Shahida Binti Baseri.

This team of Hospital Sentosa social workers makes consistent monthly visits to outpatients who not only suffer from mental illness, thereby rendering them as OKUs, but are also very poor. There are 19 needy families approved by Hope Place for assistance and these are the families visited monthly by a team of the Hospital Sentosa social workers who are mostly volunteers.

Included in the list of food items worth over RM5,000 given out to the 19 needy families by Hope Place during the visit were rice, cooking oil, biscuit, noodles, salt, sugar, Milo, water for those houses without water supply as well as adult pampers for those individuals with disabilities (OKU).

Hope Place is an NGO that visits the poor and less fortunate families to contribute some essential food items like rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, biscuits, and noodles. Many of these families or individuals barely earn enough to get through the month. Hence many are grateful with the assistance of these basic necessities delivered to them. For the families with children with special needs, or with elderly or people with disablities, they provide milk powder, oat and diapers as well.

Hope Place carries out their aid deliveries once every two months because of the many families on their recipients list.
