Under this programme, housewives in the neighbourhood will be assigned to a female police officer from the district police headquarters as their contact person.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri launched the event yesterday in the presence of Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin cum Senadin assemblyman and Miri MP Chiew Choon Man.

Amanita also knowm as the Peace Lady project, was established in 2013 by the police to combat crime in residential areas by engaging housewives to be the eyes and ears of the police.

“If anyone comes across a suspicious character in the neighbourhood, you can contact the designated officer,” Azman said.

He further said that this adoption initiative aimed to increase the involvement of police officers to be closer to residents in the housing areas as well as communication with housewives in an effort to prevent crime.
