Huawei, NUR Power, JS Solar establish Smart and Green Industrial Park in Kedah

KUCHING: Huawei Technologies Malaysia, NUR Power, and JS Solar have joined forces to establish an inaugural Smart and Green Industrial Park within the Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP) in Kedah.

The collaboration aims to create a benchmark for sustainable energy in the nation and will center around the study, design, and formulation of the green and smart energy transition roadmap for KHTP.

NUR Power will act as the strategic independent power utility operator, Huawei Malaysia as the technology enabler, and JS Solar as the project development partner.

This partnership focuses on integrating Huawei Malaysia’s Solar Smart PV technology into NUR Power’s infrastructure, deploying Battery Energy Storage System solutions, and establishing electric vehicle charging infrastructure to promote electric mobility in the region.

Chong Chern Peng, vice-president of Digital Power Business at Huawei Malaysia, expressed pride in contributing renewable energy capabilities to the Smart and Green Industrial Park, envisioning it as a forward-looking hub for sustainable growth.

“This collaboration promises to elevate KHTP’s standing as a forward-looking industrial park, offering a sustainable framework where manufacturing businesses and global companies can flourish.”

Additionally, the three companies will also conduct joint research on grid-forming solutions for KHTP’s utility grid, utilising cutting-edge technologies like Smart Solar PV Inverters.

NUR Power group managing director Ikwan Hafiz Jamaludin stressed the collaboration’s significance in promoting a greener, more resilient industrial future.

“It is not just about powering industries; it is about empowering sustainable growth and eco-friendly practices across the nation.”

Furthermore, JS Solar managing director Johnson Chai echoed the sentiment and stated that this collaboration acts as a benchmark for Malaysia’s sustainable energy sector and paves the way for a brighter, greener future.
