MATU: The local folks of Kampung Bertong Matu were in for a surprise when a group of fishermen successfully captured a huge crocodile yesterday (Aug 19).
The enormous reptile, said to weigh almost a tonne and measure over 13 feet in length, was caught around 5pm in Sungai Matu.
Excitement rippled through the village as people gathered at the jetty to witness the crocodile’s carcass being loaded onto a truck.
The carcass is reported to have been handed over to the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) for further action.
It is believed that the fishermen managed to trap the reptile by using bait.
News of the defeated crocodile quickly spread on various social media pages, and netizens were left in awe at the size of the crocodile as well as commending the locals’ efforts in capturing the reptile.
