Hunt on for culprit in convenience store heist

KUCHING: Police here are currently on the hunt for a male suspect who allegedly robbed a convenience store at Jalan Nanas on Monday (Jan 30).

Kuching district police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah when contacted, confirmed that they had received a police report pertaining to the incident on Monday.

“The case is being investigated under Section 392/397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery.

“As a result of the incident, the victim suffered losses amounting to RM900,” he said.

Captured on a 20-second CCTV footage, the incident had gone viral on social media where the suspect is seen wearing a green jacket, a blue shirt and a black hat.

The suspect is seen wrapping his arm around the victim’s neck while, pointing an object believed to be a knife and forcing the victim to hand over the money in the cash register.

The suspect immediately left the store as soon as he took the money.
