LAWAS: A search and rescue (SAR) operation was launched to locate a missing 64-year-old hunter after he failed to return home from a hunting trip last Thursday (Jan 21).
Identified as Robert Tamang Labo, the victim went out to hunt alone on Wednesday by foot and did not return home in Kampung Pa’Berunut.
Local villagers then launched a search party to find the victim but to no avail.
The State Fire Department operations centre said they received a distress call at 9.47pm on Thursday and despatched firefighters from Lawas fire station to the scene to gather information.
The search operation continued the next day and it took about four hours to reach the scene.
At press time the victim is yet to be found.
