KUCHING: Voting for all 31 Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidates in the 15th general election (GE15) will ensure Sarawak has a strong voice in Parliament, says Datuk Idris Buang.

Idris, who is the GPS publicity and media relations chairman, added that the coalition would then be able to form good and strong policies while they fight for Sarawak’s rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

“By ensuring victory to GPS in all 31 parliamentary seats, Sarawak can become the kingmaker.

“When they (federal government) need us (GPS) to support them to form a strong government, we will only support those who will bring a stable government to Malaysia as a whole.”

Idris said this during the GE15 Chit Chat at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters on Today (Nov 12).

He stressed that GPS would work with any party that could bring stability to Malaysia.

“It is because we are the catalyst for stability. GPS is an important element that can stabilise Malaysia’s politics through its participation in the federal government. And this has been proven based on what we are doing in the state.

“Therefore, we are open to working with any party – except for Democratic Action Party (DAP),” he said.

Idris explained that this was due to Pakatan Harapan (PH) insulting Sarawak by saying it would become bankrupt in coming years, cancelling many projects here and also refusing to upgrade dilapidated schools here.

“This is a form of bullying and that is what DAP did to us when PH came into power.

“Furthermore, they stated that their manifesto is not a promise. With them constantly changing their minds, DAP should just change their name to ‘party yang berubah’.”

As for GPS, “we mean what we say, and we mean what we stand for. As long as they respect our rights, only then can we work together,” he added.
