KUCHING: Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya has pointed out the importance of ethics and integrity in organisations, stating that every staff member must be firm, strong and trustworthy in addressing their own weaknesses while protecting the organisation’s reputation.

The Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) highlighted the need to strengthen ethics and integrity within organisations, citing it as one of the biggest challenges to overcome.

“Promoting ethics and integrity in public service is essential for efficient administration, tackling issues such as financial management, disciplinary cases, bribery, misuse of power, and malpractice.”

He made these remarks during the first series of the Ethics and Integrity Programme 2023 at Waterfront Hotel here from June 20 to 21.

Public servants with high integrity are considered valuable assets to organisations, according to Juanda.

He stressed the importance of public servants having a strong sense of identity and rejecting acts such as bribery, as bribery could lead to the downfall of an organisation and threaten the nation’s security.
