WATER supply for Meradong district will be improved with the current implementation of the water supply project under the Central Region 1 Work Order 6 (CR1 W06) Package.

Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said that frequent water disruptions occurred mostly due to pipe damage by third parties during road construction of the Pan Borneo Highway.

“The project involves the proposed supply, delivery and laying of 600mm nominal internal diameter pipeline from Bulat Junction to Temadak Reservoir,” he said.

The project is part of the statewide Sarawak Water Supply Grid Programme which is fully funded by Sarawak government.

Abdul Rahman was responding to Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing (GPS-Meradong) during Q&A session in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) today.

Ding earlier asked about the scope of works and progress of the project.

Abdul Rahman said that the scope of works for the project include pipe-laying works for 20km of the 600mm Mild Steel Cement Line (MSCL) pipes inclusive of all valves, crossings, pipe fittings and appurtenances, reinstatement and other associated works from Bulat Junction to Temadak Reservoir.
