KUCHING: A Medical Response Unit (MRU) has been set up at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here to provide emergency treatment and stabilize patients’ conditions in cases of emergencies occurring at the premises.

Emergency assistance services are provided promptly before patients are referred for further medical treatment at healthcare centers, with services facilitated by Sarawak Medical Centre Sdn Bhd.

State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki officiated at the pre-launch of the MRU at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today (Feb 6).

The unit has been operational since Feb 1, with operating hours from Monday to Friday, at 8 am to 5 pm.

Currently, the Information Resource Centre (IRC) area on the ground floor of Wisma Bapa Malaysia is temporarily utilized until the permanent MRU area is fully completed.

To receive treatment at the MRU, the required documents include bringing along an Identity Card (IC), while Sarawak government staff can also use their official cards.

During the event, Abu Bakar, Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Datuk Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, and Deputy State Secretary (Administration) Datuk Buckland Bangik also took the opportunity to undergo health check-ups by the medical officers.
