KUCHING: A message circulating around claiming that Sarikei MP Wong Ling Biu has passed away is not true.

Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii said people should not spread unverified news that may cause any panic.

“It is also important for us to show some respect to his family members during this tough time,” he said in his Facebook post.

He also called the public to pray for Wong’s speedy recovery.

Wong of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) was reported to have tested positive for Covid-19 has been undergoing treatment at Sibu Hospital since March 13.
In view of this, DAP Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen on Sunday urged all his party members who had close contact with Wong in the last 14 days to undergo self-quarantine in compliance with the standing operating procedure (SOP) set by the Ministry of Health to contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

“Most of us had close contact with Wong on March 1, the day when Tan Sri Muhyiddin was sworn in as prime minister. Thus, we have passed the 14-day period and had shown no symptom of the virus infection,” he said.
